|Post subject:||Where do I find...|
Although this is posted in the history forum, it could just as easily apply to any of the others- and I don't see any "General" forum for the game setting, so...
I've been aware of the existance of the Tekumel game world for some time now, having aquired a copy of the old TOME boxed set about ten years ago. I have recently renewed my interest in the setting with my purchased of the new tri-Stat book, but my problem with the setting remains the same as it was with the old version.
Tekumel is supposed to be unique amongst RPG settings for its depth and detail. Where exactly IS all this detail?
Both games gave a glimpse of a world that I found very appealing, but in both cases, I'd end up inventing most of the detail myself if I tried to run it. They both give only a brief outline of Tsolyani culture and history.
Where should I look if I want more? Do I read the novels? The bibliography of Tekumel:EPT says that the "Swords and Glory" sourcebook is the "Encyclopaedic reference for Tekumel"- should I hunt this down? Is there another source of information I should be looking for?
In the meantime, I'll be posting questions here and devouring the archive files for the old fanzines to fill out my knowledge of Tekumel.

|Post subject:||where are the details|
You'll find what you are looking for in the Swords and Glory Source Book. It still is THE encyclopedia on things tekumelani. Mitlanyal vol 1 and 2 will give you en excellent amount of facts and flavour on religion. Book of Ebon Bindings will teach you the art of demonology and also gives details on many individual other-planar creatures. The novels will give you detail and a lot of flavour. The army books give details on legions, warfare and history. The various magazines give you a lot of details on many different things and also many adventures. There are a lot of fanzines available for download on this site. You can buy the books via Titas House of Games, there is a link on this site.

|Post subject:||get the Tekumel Sourcebook|
Just to second the previous post, the biggest single chunk of setting material is in the Tekumel Sourcebook, which was Volume One of the ill-fated Swords & Glory Tekumel rpg. Ill-fated because only the first two of three volumes were ever published, in 1983 and 1984. The original publisher, Gamescience, never got the third volume, the GM's guide, into print. Years later, the Sourcebook was broken into three parts by Different Worlds, but only the first two of these ever made it into print.
Fortunately, Carl Brodt of Tita's House of Games has done us all a great service by re-publishing both the original Gamescience edition and *all three parts* of the Different World edition. Look in the Swords & Glory section of his current pricelist, here:
