Hello all,
I started playing EPT back in 1975 when it came out. I once even played with Baker at CostCon, an old gaming convention down on the gulf coast. Even got him to autograph my game manual :-)

I just came across my old 1st and 2ed eddtions of the game and sure enough, there are still people playing out there.

If I should begain playing again, what version is most in use now? Should I go to the latest (4th edition??) or is there an option on the playability of the different games?

Good to be here. Any old dogs out there that played the first edition way back when, feel free to drop me a line.

I have 1st Ed., the less than crucial set from Theater of the Mind, and some Different World's stuff, plus loads of supplements, all the novels, etc., all of this stuff pays off in that you can soak in all the history, atmosphere, and culture.

As for playing, I would recommend the latest Guardians of Order publication, Tekumel RPG. GOO is now out of business, but there are plenty of places to buy the RPG book. There are numerous errata items for the text, too, but nothing is broken therein. You will find this a great "central" source for GMing and playing. I lean on the Savage World's system these days, as we are playing pulp stuff with the system and it is very flexible and easy to convert.

I'll second Mike's view. If you do get the new game, it's very much worth checking out the tekumelrpg yahoogroup, and especially the file archives, there is document on spell selection there from the game designers that clears up a lot.

Chiming in as a player of original EPT in the 70s. I also recommend using the new rules.

My first RPG campaign I played in was Craig Smith's official offshoot of Barker's canon campaign, played at The Little Tin Soldier Shop, the original game store of Minneapolis.
