To add to a bit of description to my games, I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of night noises would be heard from the wildlife in the more civilised areas of Tsolyanu. I've just come back from Greece, where it is cicadas . In Britain owls, dogs cats and the odd urban fox.

I'd think some insectlife wouldn't be a bad guess. Something like Cicadas. There's dogs too, so they'd be another good bet.
Temple bells, since a lot of the temples do have night ceremonies.
And who can forget chimes accompanied by blue glows and a musky cinammon smell.

Lovely question. Here are some thoughts. Consider that it never freezes, or even gets particularly cold in most of Tsolyanu, so insects are certainly abundant. There are frog-like creatures called horoks -- many of them call at night. There's no mention of owls, so they might not be about. There could be night-calling lizards like geckos. I think one of the Adventures on Tekumel books has a feshenga roaring in the night. Hu-bats fly at night, they probably chitter or squeak.
In my Tekumel, Chlen-beasts sometimes communicate with (among other sounds) deep, ultrasonic rumbling -- they rumble at each other for hours and hours sometimes in (literally) low-key dominance contests.
Certainly the giant temple gongs called tunkul are sounded at night, in particular by the temples of Hru'u, Sarku, and Ksarul and their cohorts. There are also night-time rites in the temple of Dlamelish and Hrihayal, these are likely to involve lots of wild music.

Recently I gave my Players a "taste" of a little bit of the influence of "The Goddess of the Night Resplendent" ... or She Who Cannot Be Named (a very Harry Potter sounding name!). Nothing very 'amusing' about it all, and I wanted to enhance my unsettling descriptions of occurences by adding in some low keyed background sounds and/or music. Perhaps I could use the same tracj when they are in a Hluss Hive or something (or even a Pe Choi 'village !).
Has Anyone got any effects or theme music suggestions ? ...from the vastly experienced audio people who must be "Out There'.
Ohe ! Thanks Krista Donnely for your Lost in the Library Maps and descriptions. I used the 'bare skeleton' of this short scenario, kept the location (Sokatis) and the Library 'Staff' - but changed the whole thing about to an unfortunate encounter with the results of peeking into the "wrong" Tome - and enticing out what was within ....
Effects from the Godess of the Night Resplendant with overtomes from the theological texts of The Order of the 12th Sphere. My Pc's were all suitably "freaked out" as three Acolytes who were reading stuff that they were not supposed to, became deliquised and evolved into Pedhetl "Energy Vampires" (Ever seen the Sci Fi Movie "Lifeforce" ??). Lucky that the place was 'sealed down' with some sorcerous protection. A few people paid for their folley with their very Lives and Essences.
Now I can earmark the PC's for a foray into the Sealed City of Dlash ... a a future date. Interesting the overlaps and connections with the Early Temple of Lady Dlamelish and Early Ksarul. I have been "researching" and compiling/collating Tekumel articles and lore about all of the Pariah Deties ; The Old Ones. I can't remember the origins of some of my printed source material, except that which was gleaned from The Eye of Allseeing Wonder (mag) and the ever useful Blue Room Archive. Thanks to all of the Contributors.
Now They may be ready for the "Society of the Resurgent Octogon" Scenario .... All has to be converted to Gardasiyal format though, despite the lovely new Tekumel?EPT from GOO. I have the base book, but far more S & G and Gardasiyal material to work with.
