Now that I seldom read the yahoo group I was pleased to see this forum created. I agree that the yahoo forum is hard to navigate and more to the point the occasional spats of bitching and backbiting REALLY get on my nerves. Incidentally I would have joined earlier but I hadn't realised the site update had been released. Did you you send out an email to your Tekumel mailing list?

Lord Ksarul, we are most grateful for your generous contribution of this revamped site and forum. The effort it must have taken to accomplish from your unjust slumber would have been great indeed. It is most exquisite and I hope it will provide a productive venue for learning the secrets of our enemies.

First, I appreciate the kind words, thanks! Just to be clear, in setting this up I had no desire to take away any traffic from the Mailing List. I just thought that some people might prefer this format, and that it would be easier for newbies to Tekumel to join in the discussion, or indeed just read the posts as a guest. And it's a more 'public' discussion than the List. It seems to me the two can co-exist happily.

And I now feel a bit weird about choosing Ksarul as user name, mainly because 'The Blue Room' - the venerable, now-defunct Mailing List that I'm still in the process of reformatting for tekumel.com - is such a Tekumel institution, and 'Lord of the Blue Room' makes me think of Chris Davis, the moderator of that List.

Oh well, don't mean to steal your thunder Chris, if you're reading!

This forum has already prompted me to post several messages I would never have sent to the mailing lists.

You should see this as a alternative to those mailing lists.

Also, there are several, more or less, defunct mailing lists that people have set up for Tekumel. Minority tastes like that are better catered for with a forum where it's much easier to organise topics into threads.
